2020 Graduates

The graduates of 2020 have faced new challenges as they finished their final semesters and prepared to graduate in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We wanted to honor all our 2020 graduates -- from high school to graduate school.

High School Graduates

Emma Carl


Emma is graduating with honors from homeschool. She participated in AWANA and VBS and helped lead a Bible study for junior high girls. She also played soccer and water polo and participated in German dance. Emma plans to attend Mississippi College and major in psychology.

Gabriel Carl


Gabe is graduating with honors from homeschool, including a 2019 HSAA  Baseball Championship.  He participated in AWANA, VBS, and the LRBC Student Ministry Worship Team in addition to playing baseball. Gabe plans to attend Mississippi College and major in criminal justice.

Brianne Cunningham

Twin Springs Academy

Brianne is graduating from Twin Springs Academy (homeschool). She participated in musical theater (Seussical and Fiddler on the Roof) and the Student Ministry Worship Team and volunteered with Operation Christmas Child. She is also a three-time honoree in the Stossel in the Classroom Essay Contest. Brianne will attend either Emmaus Bible College or College of the Ozarks, majoring in agricultural development.

Jonas Himmelsehr

Poteet High School

Jonas is graduating from Poteet High School with four years of Pirate Poteet Band experience, participating in UIL at the state level two years and as snare section leader during his senior year. He also played in the Rowlett Hockey League for six years, serving as team captain for two years. He plans to find work where he can once things open back up.

Emily Lynch

Poteet High School

Emily is graduating from Poteet High School, where she played volleyball, participated in 9th-11th grade clinicals, and earned the title of Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (11th grade year). She is a Top 5% National Honor Society Scholarship recipient and also received grants to UNT, where she plans to major in kinesiology.

Hayden Palmeri

Poteet High School

Hayden is graduating from Poteet High School, where he played violin in the orchestra. He enjoyed participating and serving in the Student Ministry Worship Team, AWANA, and VBS at Lake Ridge. He plans to attend Eastfield Community College and major in computer science.

Sarah Sloan

Sloan Christian Academy

Sarah is graduating from homeschool with the HEAR Class of 2020, having earned a Highest Honors diploma, and from Eastfield Community College with an Associate of Arts in Teaching (4th-8th grades) and honors in Phi Theta Kappa and as a member of the President's List. She has performed in more than 50 theater and musical productions, plays and teaches guitar, served with the Student Ministry Worship Team, and volunteered in AWANA and VBS. Sarah will attend Texas A&M Commerce to pursue an education degree, focusing on English/Language Arts and Reading (4th-8th grades). She will also be in the University Singers Choir.

Lucas Svigel

Poteet High School

Lucas Svigel is graduating from Poteet High School, where he played basketball and attended Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) last summer. He regularly attends Scofield Memorial Church, but he has been an active member of the LRBC Student Ministry on Wednesday nights for the last two years and is a member of the Student Ministry Mission Trip Team to Alaska. Lucas will be attending John Brown University in the fall, majoring in business.

Hope Vogel


Hope is graduating from homeschool. She was involved in theater, served as a member of the VBS and AWANA bands, and volunteered in AWANA (Cubbies). Hope will be attending Oklahoma Baptist University, majoring in nursing.

Alyssa Masters

Criswell College

B.A. in Biblical Studies

Alyssa is graduating Summa Cum Laude from Criswell College. She plans to continue managing the HOPE Coffee Shop at DTS in addition to running the social media and photography needs for the new Sunnyvale HOPE Coffee Shop. She also plans to continue growing her photography business.

Sarah Milliron

Dallas Baptist University

B.A. in Elementary Education

M.Ed. in Reading and ESL

Sarah graduated in December 2019 from DBU and taught 4th grade math and science at Leslie A. Stemmons Elementary in Dallas this past semester. She is currently applying and interviewing for open teaching positions in the Dallas area for next year.

Joel Montgomery

LeTourneau University

B.B.A. in Accounting

Joel is continuing his education online in the MBA program at LeTourneau. This summer, he will intern at Saville, Dodgen & Company, a CPA firm in downtown Dallas.

Cameron Gage

M.A. in Biblical Counseling

Cameron finished his degree in December 2019 and currently works for Hope's Door New Beginning Center, a non-profit in the Dallas area that helps victims of domestic abuse.

Andrea Himmelsehr

Texas A&M School of LAW

Master of Jurisprudence, Risk Management

Andrea works for Citibank as a Digital Governance Analyst. This job was a result of her new degree.

Dr. Ben Lowery

Dallas Theological Seminary


Ben completed his degree in December 2019, then moved with his family in February to Bluffton, South Carolina, where he is the Next Steps and Teaching Pastor at LowCountry Community Church. They love and miss their Lake Ridge family.
