Stephen Ministry is a Caring Ministry which consists of Stephen Ministers who have been equipped to provide quality one-on-one Christian care to people facing a variety of personal crises. Some of the situations in which Stephen Ministers provide care include the loss of a loved one, divorce, a terminal illness, loneliness, unemployment, hospitalization, a spiritual crisis, and the birth of a child.

Stephen Ministry is a very confidential ministry. Those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain private. Our Stephen Ministry is a source of warmth, care and blessing and enables the entire congregation to grow as a nurturing community where people are cherished and cared for and their needs taken seriously, all in the name of Jesus Christ.

A Stephen Minister is…

  • A child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting
  • A congregation member with gifts for care giving
  • A lay person who has been carefully selected to service in this role
  • Someone who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
  • A caring Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports, and encourages
  • Someone who will “be there” – meeting faithfully for about an hour each week for as long as there is a need
